Installation of ActiveImage Protector

This document contains information about installation procedures and basic precautions.
It is highly recommended that you read this document carefully before starting the ActiveImage Protector installation.

Installation

1. Before starting the installation, ensure that the system requirements are met. Before installing the product, please make sure the required packages are installed.
2. Insert ActiveImage Protector's media into the media drive of your computer.
3. Run the script [AIP-packages-tool.sh] located in root directory on the product's media or the installer [AIPLinuxInstaller] in terminal.

* If a non-root user, log in as a super user and run the script [AIP-packages-tool.sh] located in root directory on the product's media or the installer [AIPLinuxInstaller] in terminal.

# su
Enter password for root account
# <Mount Point assigned for the product media>/AIPLinuxInstaller

4. When the Terminal is launched, the installation window is displayed. Select [Install].
   
   
   The Terminal can be operated via keyboard only. Cursor movement can be controlled by using Tab key or arrow key. The [space] or [Enter] key selects an item.

5. Enter the product key.
   *Cannot upgrade from an off-line product key.
   

6. Read the End User License Agreement carefully and select [AGREE] to continue installation.
   

7. Select the components and options to install.
   

Components

ActiveImage agent

The ActiveImage agent includes services, copy engine and drivers which are required for backup processing on a local host.

ActiveImage console

The ActiveImage console (GUI) is used to operate the ActiveImage agent. The ActiveImage console connects to and operates ActiveImage agents on a remote host over the network.

Option

Set firewall exception

Checking in the checkbox for "Set firewall exception" automatically opens the following ports.

• TCP port 48236 (to connect to a remote computer)
• UDP port 48238 (Agent local browse)
• UDP port 48239 (Agent browse networked computers)
• UDP port 55238 (Actiphy Authentication Service Activation Server)
• UDP port 55239 (Actiphy Authentication Service Activation Server)

8. Installation processing is started.
   

9. The program is set up in the "/opt/Actiphy" folder and configured to automatically start up the ActiveImage Protector service when the system is booted up.

Note:

• The following command may be used to run from the command line in an environment where X Window is not configured.

# <Mount Point assigned for the product media>/AIPLinuxInstaller

• To install via SSH client, please select [UTF-8] for font encoding.
  In the event that another font encoding such as [UTF-8[CJK]] is selected, the installation wizard will not display correctly.

Uninstallation

1. Run the script [AIP-packages-tool.sh] located in root directory on the product's media or the installer [AIPLinuxInstaller] in terminal.

* If a non-root user, log in as a super user and run the script [AIP-packages-tool.sh] located in root directory on the product's media or the installer [AIPLinuxInstaller] in terminal.

# su
Enter password for root account
# <Mount Point assigned for the product media>/AIPLinuxInstaller

2. Select [Uninstall] from the displayed menu.
   

3. To retain the current settings and backup schedules after uninstallation of ActiveImage Protector, select [YES].
   

4. The Uninstallation process is started. Please wait until the uninstallation completes.

Set up the Windows console for remote management capabilities and connect to ActiveImage agent

1. Insert ActiveImage Protector's media into the media drive of your Windows computer and start up the following launcher. Click on [Setup] to launch the installer.
   

   * Remote connection from Version 2018 Update 8 to Version 2018 Update 5 or later agent is supported. Remote connection to Version 2018 Update or an earlier version agent is not supported.

   

2. The wizard will guide you through installation.
   

3. Upon completion of installation and when the ActiveImage console is launched, the following dialog is displayed.
   

4. Click on the connection status at the upper left and select [Connect to new computer] from the displayed pull-down menu.
   

5. [Connect to Network Computer] dialog is displayed.
   Select a Linux server from the list. Or enter the host name or IP address for the network computer to connect. Enter the root account for the network computer, and click [Connect].
   

6. When connection is established, the color of the status bar on top is changed from blue to green.
   

7. To disconnect from the remote computer, select [Disconnect from current computer].

Precautions

• To run the installation or uninstallation procedures, logging in as super user is required. If a non-root user, log in as a super user and run the script [AIP-packages-tool.sh] located in root directory on the product's media or the installer [AIPLinuxInstaller] in terminal.

# su
