Summary of Client Management Procedures

The following are the client management procedures by using this version (RC).

Initial Settings

Launch the console window and configure the following settings.

Configure Client Manager Credentials Information

Configure the settings for Client Manager credentials information.

Access Active Directory to obtain client information. Configure Client Manager credentials with Domain Administrator or User of Domain Admin Group. Please specify the full path of the domain name.

Obtain the client information on the identical network. Please configure the Client Manager credentials with built-in Administrator.

As for the client with which the connection fails to establish with the credentials, you can separately configure the credential setting for the client.

Click [Done] to establish the connection to local host with the configured credential information. When the connection is successfully established, the client is searched based on the specified information.

If the connection to the local host failed to establish with the configured credential information, you need to specify another host accessible with the configured credential information.

Preparation before Client Management

When the client is found, you need to take preparatory procedures before starting client management.

Click [Site Configuration] in the upper left of the console.

Configure ActiveImage Protector package to deploy

Select [Package Lists].

Please configure the settings for the setup files and the product key of ActiveImage Protector to deploy to the client to manage.

You are recommended to use ActiveImage Protector 2018 SP1 (Version 5.0.3.4641) or later version as the package to deploy.

Specify the destination to save backup image files

Select [Storage Devices].

You need to specify the destination, if you specify network shared folder as the destination in the backup schedule to deploy.

Configure Hypervisor setting

Select [Hypervisors].

You need to configure the settings before creating and deploying a template for vStandby task.

When you selected a guest machine running on the hypervisor as the client to manage, you can boot up the guest machine by selecting [Power On] in the right-click menu.

Start Client Management

Please take the following operating procedures to start client management.

Specify the client to manage

The clients found as a search result are listed in [Unmanaged Clients] in [Clients] tab.

Select a specific client and drag and drop the client to [Managed Clients] or select [Move to Managed] in right-click menu.

When you moved the client on which ActiveImage Protector is installed to [Managed Clients], the connection to ActiveImage Protector agent installed on the client is automatically established.

Deploy ActiveImage Protector

Select a client in [Managed Clients] and select [Push Install] - [Initial Install] in right-click menu.

When installation of ActiveImage Protector completes, system restart is required.

If deployment of ActiveImage Protector failed, please check the client firewall setting and client management and sharing is enabled.

Create backup schedule template to deploy

To deploy backup schedules, you need to create templates for "Backup" and "Schedule".

Click on [Backup] or [Schedule] button located on the upper side of the console, and the templates are created respectively.

Deploy Backup Schedules

Select a client from [Managed Clients] as the target to deploy backup schedules, and select [Deploy Task] - [Backup] in the right-click menu.

If you clicked [Deploy] button in the upper side of the console, click [Backup] and [Add new...] button to select the target client.

In Deployment dialog, select the created backup and schedule templates and click [Deploy], and the backup schedule is deployed to the selected target client.

Create the schedule template to create VSR (Virtual Standby Replica) to deploy

Click [vStandby] button in the upper side of the console and the template is created.

Deploy the schedule to create VSR

Select the target client to deploy the schedule from Managed Clients, and select [Deploy Task] - [vStandby] in the right-click menu.

If you clicked [Deploy] button in the upper side of the console, click [vStandby Task] and [Add new...] button to select the target client.

Create Client Setting Template

Click on [Client Settings] in the upper side of the console to create a template for client setting.

* Support for Feature Lock is scheduled in ActiveImage Protector 2018 SP2 or later.

Deploy Client Setting Template

Select a target client in Managed Clients and select [Deploy Task] - [Client Settings] in the right-click menu. You can select multiple templates to deploy.

If you click [Deploy] button in the upper side of the console, please click [Client Settings] and select the template and client to deploy by clicking [Add new...] button.

Review Summary Information

The following tab provides a monitoring of summary information. In the lower side of the console, you can monitor the event history of ActiveVisor.

[Dashboard] tab

Provides the real time monitoring of the status.

[Clients] tab

Double-click a specific client from Managed Clients in upper side of the console or click [+] button to review the summary information of the client and ActiveImage Protector and/or edit the task.

[Destination] tab

Provides the information of ActiveImage Protector operation activities regarding the destination to save backup files and the target host to create VSR.

[License Management] tab

Provides the information of ActiveImage Protector license status and license management.
