- Released as ActiveImage Protector 4 Service Pack 2
Update 1 Patch (1708).
- Before applying this patch, please be aware of the following precautions.
- If this patch is applied with the console window open, the console window shall be automatically closed.
- When this patch is applied, the console version should be "4.7.6.3980-P3". The agent version remains the same.
- The version of the image files created after applying this patch is indicated as "4.7.6.4126(208)".
Correction
- In Event Log dialog, when the log information was sorted by Date/Time, the log information was not correctly sorted.
- In Boot Environment Builder (Linux-based), no appropriate ISO image writing device was indicated.
- In the event that you tried to activate the product on more hosts than allowed by the license term, deactivation failed.
- When you edited the schedule that was created by entering one-letter password, the password corrupted.

Additions, Enhancements
- If you get VSS error for some reason when a backup task started to run, the backup task is retried.
- Shadow storage space, if unallocated, is
automatically allocated when a backup task is executed.
Correction
- A scheduled backup task was skipped and not executed. This problem is corrected.
- In the event that an image file was reconciled
after consolidation, the valid incremental image files were
deleted. This issue has been corrected.

Added and updated features
- Windows 10 Anniversary Update is supported.
- Before updating/upgrading to Windows 10 Anniversary Update, please uninstall and then reinstall this product.
- Enhanced Backup feature is provided.
- Retention policy settings are improved with added trigger option for deleting obsolete image sets.
- Enhanced wizard allows you to enter the credentials if you select a shared folder for the destination storage to save images.
- Scripting for backup profiles can be separated for full or incremental trigger.
- Missed backups re-run option is provided, so that, if your computer was powered off at the scheduled backup time, the missed backup tasks are executed when the computer is restarted.
- Summary page of Backup Wizard provides indication of estimated size of the base backup image file.
- Enhanced Recovery Feature is provided.
- The use of built-in Shrink-on-the-fly for Restore by Volume enables you to restore a volume in reduced size.
- Capabilities for initializing and partitioning bare metal disk are provided.
- Restore Image Wizard on Windows system supports restoring BIOS / uEFI system volume alone to a disk other than the system disk.
- Improved E-Mail Notification feature is provided.
- E-Mail Notification can include task summary (Daily, Weekly, Monthly).
- E-Mail Notification provides the option to notify the license status according to the predefined threshold for the remaining days of valid license.
- You can configure the settings for a backup schedule by specifying multiple USB devices for the destination to save backup images.
The following are the behavior:
- In case that the USB device specified for the storage destination is disconnected from the system at the scheduled start time, the backup task terminates with error (-301). When reconnection of the USB device specified for the storage destination is detected, you will get the message prompting you to decide whether the skipped backup task (terminated with -301 error) should be immediately resumed.
- [Allow multiple USB device destination in one profile] option is provided to specify USB device as the storage destination, even when the original USB is replaced with a different one, if connected to the drive assigned with the same drive letter as specified for the storage destination in the schedule setting. The behavior of the scheduled task is described as follows when [Allow multiple USB device destination in one profile] option is enabled/disabled in [Preference] - [General] setting.
- Enabled:The backup task is executed.
* If the folder you specified for the destination does not exist on the USB device, the backup task terminates with error (-301).
- Disabled:The backup task terminates with error (-301).
- Improved Explorer function.
- Explorer for browsing folders provides the option to display base image files.
- Conversion from physical to virtual disk (conversion
to virtual disk only) is supported in Windows PE-based boot environment.
- Direct access to a network shared folder in Explorer
is supported in Windows PE-based boot environment.
- You can pre-configure the program to automatically check for updates and download over network.
- Image files saved on optical media are supported to use and operate.

- Backup
- Backup at shutdown does not work on the equivalent
edition of "Home".
- (7815) Cannot operate image file created with one
character password.
- Recovery
- In the event that both BIOS system volume and data volume are restored together, the restore system did not boot up.
- Resizing the newly created partition was allowed.
- (7759/6816)The configured settings were not correctly displayed on Summary window in Restore Image Wizard.
- (7779)Offline disk might have been selected as the restore target disk.
- In the event that you selected an option to
restore a volume in reduced or extended size, GUI crashed.
- In case that uEFI system volume alone is
restored, this restored volume did not boot up.
- With GUI display in Germany, the size of the available
space was not correctly recognized when selecting restore source or
creating a new partition.
- With GUI display in Germany, GUI got freeze when
restoring uEFI system volume.
- At the environment with multi card reader, GUI got
freeze.
- Image Manager
- When archiving backup image files, the path to the target destination was displayed incorrectly by default.
- Windows PE Boot Environment builder
- Adding a specific driver in Windows PE boot
environment failed.
- Others
- The statistics information in Task Summary displayed incorrect count number.
- There have been some cases that AipNotify.exe crashed while sending the task summary.
- The time stamps of log records migrated from
version 3.5 did not correctly displayed.
- Problems occurred with GUI display in Germany.

- The newly designed Dashboard provides additional
information to monitor current backup status, created schedules,
executed tasks, etc.
- The Backup Wizard is designed to provide
intuitive operation.

select multiple images and multiple restore targets.
- Enhanced Image Management now features
additional capabilities such as Verify Image, Consolidate

- AIPBE builder now supports Windows PE-based boot
environment from the USB drive.
- AIPBE builder now supports a Linux-based boot
environment (supporting ISO file as AIPBE media, USB drive to
directly boot up AIPBE).

- Activation procedures have been modified.
- Windows PE-based boot environment supports the
following operations:
- Restoration of system volume in uEFI
environment.
- [Restore BCD]feature is provided to restore boot
settings for BIOS boot system in Windows 7 or later when only
system volume is restored.
- Enhanced A.I.R. technology provides system
recovery on dissimilar servers and hardware, bypassing the
restore process.
- Upon execution of a scheduled task which USB HDD is specified for destination storage, if the destination disk is not connected to the system, the scheduled task is skipped. AIP provides you with the option that reconnection of the USB HDD, when detected, should immediately resume execution of the scheduled backup task.

Specifications of Scheduled Backup have been changed, so that in the
event that while Windows Update is
in progress, a scheduled backup task
gets to the time to start, the schedule is automatically postponed to
start one hour later. Upon completion of Windows update, if a backup task is scheduled to
start before the one-hour postponed schedule, the postponed schedule
shall be cancelled.
