- ActiveImage
Protector supports up to the maximum number of 128 disks per
system.
Up to the maximum number of 24 volumes
per disk are supported.
- After the first image file was created, if the
compression rate is changed in backup schedule setting window,
the consequently executed backup task creates a base image file.
This product does not support image file set that has mixed
image files of different compression rates.
- Please
ensure that you select an image file in image file set that is
not in use on any other host. If you select an image file in
image file set that is in use on another host, the task may
fail in error or may not be completed successfully.
Ex. 1: Restore incremental image file
included in image file set that is in use for Consolidation
process on another host. → Restore task failed with error.
Ex. 2: Consolidate image files in an image file set mounted as
writable on another host. → Consolidation task is logged to be
successfully completed in history, however, the files are not
consolidated.
- Backup images created with an earlier version
supports image files of image version "208" created with version
3.5 SP7 or later.
- If login credentials to access a network shared
folder are changed, you may be prompted to restart the system.
- Upgrading from Version 3.5 to this version
is not allowed.
- If the product's package includes the patch program, please apply the patch program upon installation of the product.
- Before applying the patch program, please make sure that no task such as backup task is up and running.
Top
of the topic
- Backup by Disk does not support dynamic disk.
- In order to execute hot backup including
snapshot of database using Oracle VSS writer in the system
environment where Oracle Database 11g for Microsoft Windows is
configured, backup source database must be up and running in
ARCHIVELOG mode.
The following URL in Oracle Database Platform Guide provides
description about how to perform Database Backup and Recovery
using VSS.
http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/oracle11g/111/windows/E05885-02/vss.htm
- If a system volume's image file created by a
scheduled task is restored to boot for the first time, the
following error may be logged. The following error does not
affect consistency of restore source image file and restored
system.
"Creation of image file by using
<Schedule Name> did not successfully complete."
- While backup schedule settings are configured
with [Separate image file for each disk] option enabled, and the
disk number of the backup source is changed or replaced, base
(full) backup of the above mentioned disk will be created
instead of incremental backup by the consequently scheduled
backup task.
- ActiveImage Protector Boot Environment (Linux)
does not recognize virtual disks converted from
storage space. Please do not select such virtual disk as
converted from storage space for the storage
destination to save system backup image file.
- Online backup on Windows 10 causes Event ID513
error logged in Windows Event Log.
- In case of backing up dynamic volume configured
with volumes on multiple disks, the image file name is not
correctly displayed in Summary page of the Backup Wizard.
- (6685) After a base backup image file is created
in new backup image generation set, and the image file is
corrupted or lost for some reason but Reconcile function is
executed to create an incremental image file, the image file
forms a sequel to the incremental image file in prior generation
of image set.
- (6700) If a backup image file is successfully
created but an error is logged in task log, the error is
indicated in the [Dashboard] - [System Protection Status] and
may be regarded as a target for an alert.
- Backup image files which includes a volume
formatted with a file system other than NTFS cannot be restored
to extended size.
- If the schedule is defined and applied within
five minutes or less before the scheduled start time, the first
scheduled task will not be executed according to the schedule.
- If a dynamic disk is specified as restore
target, the entire disk cannot be restored. Restore of an
existing volume on a dynamic disk is not supported.
- When the following operations are performed to
the backup source volume to create a backup image, a full (base)
backup must be executed before running the subsequently
scheduled incremental backup in order to update sector tracking
information on the volume.
- Resize volume
- Format volume
- Delete $AIPMAP on volume
- Execute stoptracking command using
AipControl.exe
- Before performing a cold backup of the disk
encrypted by using Microsoft BitLocker Drive Encryption from the
system on the product media, you need to decrypt the disk in
Windows, as an encrypted disk cannot be backed up.
- Combined use of this software with another
product which uses VSS is not supported. If another product
which use VSS is already installed, please ensure that AIP tasks
are not scheduled while another product using VSS is running.
- If a host machine is restarted while a backup
task is being executed, restart of the machine does not resume
the aborted backup process. Re-execute the same backup task
again.
- If the destination to save backup image files in
backup schedule setting is changed, the file name for the base
and incremental backup image files in the new destination may be
duplicated with the existing image file name from the former
destination. The consistency and sequentiality of the created
image files are guaranteed for an image file set saved in a
single destination.
- While consolidation task
is being executed for incremental image file set on host machine
other than backup source machine, incremental backup shall not
be executed to create source incremental backup images for the
image file set. Incremental backup task shall be executed at the
subsequent incremental backup schedule.
- Backup for exFAT volume becomes full sector backup (Base
and Incremental).
- If you select WebDAV, FTP, SFTP for off-site
replication target, only single-byte alphanumeric characters can be used
to specify the path to the target location.
- When SFTP is selected for replication target, SSH
server using SSH1 protocol for authentication is not supported.
- Replication to SFTP target takes longer than uploading
through use of third party client tool.
- Please make sure Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1
Redistributable Package (x86) is installed in Windows XP system. If this package is not configured in the system, you can install it by running "vcredist_x86.exe" located in Setup folder on the installation media.
- You cannot specify a letter or a symbol other
than single byte alphanumeric characters for the path of
temporary work folder to use the Deduplication Compression
feature.
- Execution of a task using a backup image file created by using Deduplication Compression feature takes longer process time than a task executed by using a backup image file created with Common Compression feature.

- Before running a consolidation task, please make
sure that at least the same or more available space than the
size of consolidated image files is in the storage of source
image files.
- While executing an incremental backup task on
the backup source host machine, a consolidation task for the
image file set cannot be executed from another host. Please
execute the consolidation task only after the incremental backup
task is completed on the backup source host machine.
- If any of the following conditions are met in
the system environment or consolidation source, even if some
data are deleted from incremental image files up to the latest
one, the processed image size is not decreased by the deleted
data size but may increase.
- Mount driver is not configured in the system
environment.
- Source volume is formatted with file system
other than NTFS.
